Abstract:Objective: To conduct cross-cultural adaptation of the Migraine-Treatment Optimization Questionnaire (M-TOQ) into Chinese version (mTOQ-C), systematically evaluate its reliability and validity, and develop simplified versions. Methods: Following approval from the original author, cross-cultural adaptation was performed according to international guidelines, resulting in the mTOQ-C19. Consecutive migraine patients from the headache clinic of the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University were recruited. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was used to determine the scale's dimensional structure. Convergent validity and reliability (internal consistency, test-retest reliability) were assessed. Simplified versions (mTOQ-C12 and mTOQ-C6) were subsequently developed. Results: A total of 210 patients (mean age 39.3±11.4 years; 74.3% female) were included for reliability and validity testing. EFA extracted four factors: "Rapid response", "Recurrence", "Side effects", and "Global response" The mTOQ-C19 showed a Cronbach's α of 0.917 and test-retest reliability (ICC) of 0.943. It was significantly correlated with established migraine assessment scales (P<0.01). Through systematic item reduction, the mTOQ-C12 and mTOQ-C6 were formed, demonstrating Cronbach's α coefficients of 0.868 and 0.735, respectively. Both simplified versions maintained comparable convergent validity and good test-retest reliability. Conclusion: The mTOQ-C and its simplified versions exhibit good reliability, validity, and cultural adaptability, serving as reliable tools for assessing the optimization of migraine acute treatment in Chinese patients.
