Abstract:The dorsal root ganglion (DRG) plays a unique role in the pathogenesis and therapeutic applications of chronic pain, making it a focal point of recent pain research. Imaging of the DRG"s structure and function in humans is an important research direction due to its non-invasive, real-time, and dynamic nature. However, the small size of the DRG, complex surrounding bone structures, and artifacts caused by respiratory and spinal dura mater pulsations have limited the application of DRG functional and structural imaging. This article provides a systematic review of the latest advances in DRG imaging, covering existing imaging techniques, their advantages and limitations, and exploring potential future directions for DRG imaging research, including the application of multimodal imaging techniques in DRG, with the aim of providing guidance and reference for further research in DRG imaging technology.
