Abstract:Myofascial pain syndrome (MPS) is a common chronic pain disorder with high prevalence and associated dysfunction in adults. Acupuncture, a safe and effective non-drug therapy, significantly improves pain symptoms and quality of life. Based on the theory of acupoint sensitization and the pathological basis of MPS, this article systematically summarizes the analgesic effects of acupuncture on pain-sensitive acupoints through three key mechanisms: regulating inflammatory-immune responses by inhibiting the release of pain mediators (e.g., SP and CGRP); restoring descending inhibitory function to block the peripheral-central sensitization cascade; and synergistically modulating neural pathways to reverse pathological pain processes. These findings provide an evidence-based foundation for clinical precision treatment.
