Abstract:Objective:To investigate the status of pain occurrence and its influencing factors among older adults in nursing home. Method:This cross-sectional survey conducted from April 2023 to May 2024, a total of 364 elderly people from five nursing homes in Chengdu were selected using convenient sampling. The survey was conducted from several aspects, including general characteristics, the status of pain occurrence, patient health status, general anxiety disorder-7 (GAD-7), and the patient health questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9). Univariate and multivariate Logistic regression analysis were used to identify the influencing factors. Results:Among the 364 elderly people in five nursing homes, the incidence of pain was 70.9% (258 cases), the incidence of anxiety was 16.5% (60 cases), and the incidence of depression was 42.0% (153 cases). Logistic regression analysis showed that the history of hypertension, previous history of pain-related diseases, unused analgesic drugs, and no hospitalization were the influencing factors for pain among elderly people in nursing home. Conclusion:The prevalence of pain occurrence and depression among elderly people in nursing home is high, and the hypertension, previous history of pain-related diseases, unused analgesic drugs, and non-hospitalization are influencing factors of pain occurrence. It is recommended to develop targeted intervention strategies in order to enhance the quality of pain management for elderly individuals residing in nursing facilities.
