Abstract:Objective:Pain that lasts more than 3 months is considered chronic pain, which is a complex and treatment-demanding condition, and a large number of patients suffer from it for a long period of time, seriously affecting their quality of life. Improvement of self-efficacy level can influence patients' behaviors and thus improve their quality of life. Therefore, this study explores the current situation of self-efficacy level of chronic pain patients and analyzes its influencing factors to provide reference and basis for healthcare professionals to provide targeted improvement measures for patients in the process of pain management.. Methods:A convenience sampling method was adopted to conduct a questionnaire using the Chronic Pain Self-Efficacy Scale to patients with chronic pain in a tertiary hospital in Beijing from April to June 2022. The questionnaire includes 22 items in three dimensions. Results:The total self-efficacy score of chronic patients was (65.52±20.77).The item mean scores of chronic pain management dimension, physical function dimension, symptom coping dimension were (2.24±0.89),(3.39±1.24)and(2.98±1.21) respectively. Different gender, age, education and employment status affect the level of self-efficacy of chronic pain patients. Regression analysis showed that age was the most important factor influencing it. Conclusion:The self-efficacy of chronic pain patients is at a moderate to low level, and health care providers need to develop plans to improve the self-efficacy of chronic pain patients according to their different characteristics, paying attention to their physical and mental conditions and socio-cultural backgrounds, and developing practical and individualized measures.
