Abstract:Peripheral neurotoxicity caused by chemotherapy has always been one of the unavoidable adverse reactions in tumor treatment. The pathogenesis is complex and varied, and is related to the pharmacological action of chemotherapy drugs. At present, there is no effective drug to prevent its occurrence. Cannabidiol has excellent potential in neuroprotection, such as multiple sclerosis and Alzheimer""s disease, and has various therapeutic and preventive effects on peripheral neurotoxicity caused by various chemotherapy drugs, without affecting the antitumor activity of chemotherapy drugs. In this review, several mechanisms of cannabidiol for the prevention and treatment of CIPN, such as endocannabinoid system, antioxidant, mitochondrial protection, activation of 5-HT1A, TRPV1, and PPARγ, were reviewed, and other possible mechanisms were speculated.
