Abstract:Peripheral neuropathic pain (pNP), such as postherpetic neuralgia and painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy, often causes adverse outcomes such as sleep disturbance, anxiety, depression, and brings economic burdens to patients and society. With the aging of the population, its incidence increases year by year. Studies have shown that botulinum toxin-A can be used as a treatment for most pNPs. This paper summarizes the relevant literature at home and abroad in recent years, and expounds the mechanism, effectiveness and security of botulinum toxin-A in the treatment of common peripheral neuropathic pain.
