Abstract:Objective: To compare the therapeutic effects of supraorbital nerve percutaneous radiofrequency thermocoagulation (PRT) and peripheral nerve stimulation (PNS) on postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) of trigeminal nerve. Methods: Retrospective analysis was performed on 60 patients with postherpetic neuralgia from V1 branch of trigeminal nerve admitted to our hospital from January 2018 to January 2021, and they were divided into PRT group and PNS group. The curative effect of the two treatment methods was evaluated by numerical rating scale (NRS) and Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI). RESULTS: Comparison of NRS score and PSQI score between the two groups showed no statistically significant difference before surgery, while 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, 3 months and 6 months after surgery were all lower in the PNS group than in the PRT group, and the difference was statistically significant; The NRS score and PSQI score of the two groups at each time point after operation were significantly lower than those before operation, and the difference was statistically significant. At the same time, the correlation analysis showed that age, course of disease and treatment effect were negatively correlated. Conclusion: Both PNS and PRT of the supraorbital nerve are effective, and PNS is preferred for patients with older age and longer course of disease.
