Abstract:Neuropathic pain (NP) is caused by damage or disease of the somatosensory nervous system, but the underlying mechanism is unclear. NP profoundly impairs the patient’s quality of life, the clinical management of NP is di?cult as current pain drugs are marginally e?ective and display unacceptable side e?ects. More and more studies have shown that AMPK plays a key role in regulating neuropathic pain, and is a promising drug target. This review demonstrates the role and the mechanisms of AMPK in the treatment of neuropathic pain, and the application and research progress of compounds targeting AMPK in pain treatment, which may provide new ideas and methods for the prevention and treatment of NP.
