Abstract:Vitamin D is a fat soluble vitamin, also known as a hormone. Many studies have shown that vitamin D is related to acute and chronic pain, but the causal relationship is not obvious, and the physiological mechanism of vitamin D and pain is not completely clear. Most randomized controlled trials have shown that vitamin D supplements have a positive effect on pain management, which may be related to the baseline level of 25 - (OH) D3. So far, vitamin D supplements have not had adverse reactions and are easy to manage. In this paper, we reviewed the correlation and potential mechanisms of vitamin D and headache, musculoskeletal pain and neuropathic pain, study the evidence of vitamin D and pain, and clarify whether current knowledge supports vitamin D supplementation in patients with 25 - (OH) D3 deficiency and pain, so as to provide new ideas for clinical pain management.
