Abstract:Abstract Objective To observe the efficacy of Lidocaine gel paste combined with gabapentin in the treatment of postherpetic neuralgia. Methods Eighty patients with post-herpetic neuralgia and outbreak pain were selected as subjects. According to different treatment methods, the digital table method was randomly divided into the control group (group C) and the test group (group T) ,with 40 cases in each group.Group C was treated with gabapentin, and group T was treated with gabapentin plus Lidocaine gel paste. The Visual analogue scale (VAS), sleep quality score, gabapentin usage, overall patient satisfaction and adverse reactions of the two groups were observed before treatment, after 7 days, after 14 days, after 21 days, after 30 days, and after 60 days. Results The VAS scores of group T were lower than that of group C at 7 days, 14 days, 21 days, 30 days and 60 days after treatment(P<0.05) . The quality of sleep in group T was significantly better than that of group C at 7 days, 14 days, 21 days, 30 days and 60 days after treatment(P<0.05). The amount of gabapentin in group T was significantly lower than that in group C (P<0.05).No significant adverse reactions occurred during the treatment of both groups. The overall satisfaction rate of patients in group T was higher than that in group C.Conclusion Lidocaine gel paste combined with gabapentin is effective in the treatment of post-herpetic neuralgia, which can reduce the pain of patients, and will not increase the adverse reactions, and the treatment is safe and effective.
