Abstract:Nervous electrical stimulation can cure chronic pain effectively, which is being extensively applied clinically. At present, the common methods of nervous electrical stimulation include transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, peripheral nerve stimulation, deep brain stimulation, spinal cord stimulation, transcutaneous spinal electroanalgesia and motor cortex stimulation. Each has its merits. They bring a glimmer of hope for patients who are suffering incurable or disabling pain. This article reviews the current conditions and advances of nervous electrical stimulation, and compares the advantages and disadvantages between different methods.
