Abstract:Objective: To investigate the curative effect of heat therapy with silver needles on knee infra-patellar fat pad lesion. Methods: Sixty-two patients with knee infra-patellar fat pad lesion were randomly divided into two groups. 34 patients received heat therapy with silver needles, 28 patients as a control group were treated with block and microwave therapy. Results: Two weeks after treatment, the pain of two groups was all relieved (P>0.05). But three months after treatment, the effective rate of control group was 67.9%, and that of thermal therapy with silver needles was 91.2%. Six months after treatment, the effective rate of control group was 64.3%, and that of thermal therapy with silver needles was 85.3%. From the 3rd month, significant difference was observe in the effective rate between the heat theary with silver needles group and the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Thermal therapy with sliver needles has good therapeutic effects for patients with knee infra-patellar fat pad lesion and successful long term effects.
