Abstract:Objective: To establish the experimental model of lumbar internal disc disruption and to observe the alteration of histology and CT/discography.Methods: 15 goats were subjected to surgery.L_(5,6) intervertebral discs were full-thickness ventral stab of annulus fibrosus,L_(6,7) intervertebral discs were stab of posterior internal annulus fibrosus.CT/discography and the histological examination were taken at the 3 weeks,3 and 6 months after operation,in order to assess the degenerative and pathological change of intervertebral discs. Results: It was observed in histology and CT/discography that L_(4,5) and L_(5,6) intervertebral discs were not found the disruption of posterior internal annulus fibrosus. The disruption of L_(6,7) posterior internal annulus fibrosus unhealed, enlarged and spreaded to the exterior annulus at 3,6 months after operation. Conclusion: Stabbing the posterior internal annulus fibrosus through goat anterior lumbar discs results in a reliable uniforml animal model of internal disc disruption.
