Objective: To search for an effective therapy for the treatment of lumbar intervertebral disc herniation(LIDH).Methods: All 98 cases of LIDH patients were randomly divided into treatment group(n=53) which was treated with local single-point electroacupuncture stimulation(SPEAS) and control group(n=45) which was treated with conventional electroacupuncture stimulation(CEAS).The lumbocrural pain content of each group was continuously evaluated with SFMPQ before every treatment and 2 days after the 8th treatment.SPEAS and CEAS subjects were treated with the same time, intensity and frequency acupuncture. Results: The dynamic evaluation results of SF-MPQ have presented significant differences than baseline since the second treatment(P<0.01) and significant differences between the early and late treatment(P<0.001) in the two groups. However, the changing range of the observation index of SPEAS group was more significant than that in the CEAS group(P<0.001) at the same time point. Conclusion: SPEAS is more effective than CEAS in the treatment of LIDH.
