Abstract:Objective: To investigate the clinical applications of percutaneous vertebroplasty(PVP).Methods: Thirty-seven patients underwent 59 PVP including 2 vertebral hemangiomas with 2 PVP,11 osteoporosis with 16 PVP,and 24 vertebral malignant tumors with 41 PVP.PVP was done with radiopaque bone cement under the X-ray.The ratio of powdery polymethl methacrylate to liquid methl methacrylate was 3:2.The ropy paste was mixed and slowly injected using 1 ml syringe. Results: The density and form of bone cement were unchanged on follow-up imaging. No further compression of vertebral body occurred. The analgesic effect occurred from finishing PVP to post-operation 7 days and followed-up 12 months. The analgesic effect was 100% in benign lesions and 95.8% in malignant tumors. Conclusion: PVP ive rate is an effective procedure for patients with vertebral bemangioma, vertebral osteoporosis, osteolytic metastases, and other osteolytic diseases.
