Abstract:Objective:To study the analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect of clomipramine. Methods: The analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect of clomipramine was tested in hot plate test, writhing test and formaldehyde test in mice. Results: Clomipramine 10mg/kg (i.p.)could (1)prolong the hind paw licking latency,(2)reduce the writhing number,(3)inhibit the nociceptive response induced by formaldehyde,(4)relieve the formaldehyde-induced paw edema in mice. Conclusions: Clomipramine had potent analgesic effect and was active against edema induced by formaldehyde in analgesic dose.
