Abstract:Objective: To observe the effects and side-effects of trazodone (TZD) and analgesic ibuprofen (PRF) in the treament of persistent somatoform pain disorder. Methods: One hundred and fouty patients were rendomly divided into two groups (70 patients in each). They were treated with TZD and PRF respectively for 4 weeks. The clinical effects and side-effects were double-blind evaluated by using HAMD and TESS respectively. Results; The effective rate of TZD and PRF were 92. 85% and 62. 85% respectively (P <0. 01). TZD also showed a side effects rate(P <0. 01) , including lethargy, nausea, anepi-thymia etc, but not serious. Conclusion: Trazodone is an effective and safe drug in the treatment of per-sistant somatoform pain disorders.
