Abstract:Objective: To investigate the changes in hemodynamics of vertebral-basilar arteries in patients with tension-type headache(TTH) . Methods; 106 patients with TTH,42 patients with a pericranial muscle disorder (TTH-PM) ,64 patients without involvement of the pericranial muscle (TTH-NOPM) and 48 normal healthy subjects without headache were studied. Mean velocity (Vm) in vertebral arteries(VA) and basilar arteries(BA) were measured using transcranial doppler(TCD). Results: The Vm of vertebral-basilar arteries in patients with TTH , especially TTH-PM were significantly increased, and the changes in Vm of right VA was more significant. Conclusion; These results support the hypothesis that TTH patients, especially TTH-PM patients, had hemodynanic disorders in vertebral-basilar arteries.
