Abstract:Objective: To study the relationship between migraine attack and the changes of serum nitric oxide (NO) and cGMP. Method: The amounts of serum NO 2 and cGMP were measured by fluorometric method and radioimmunoassay from 32 patients with migraine during attack,25 patients with migraine at intervals and 30 normal controls. Results: The levels of serum NO 2 and cGMP in migraine attack group were significantly higher than those in attack free interval group and control group( P <0.01). The levels of serum NO 2 and cGMP in patients at attack free interval group were still higher than those in control group ( P <0.01). Conclusion: NO and cGMP may play an important role in the pathogenesis of migraine.
