Abstract:Objective: To observe the changes of plasma calcitonin gene related peptide (CGRP) and substance P(SP) in remission phase of migraine. Methods: The levels of plasma CGRP and SP were determined with radioimmunoassay method in 49 cases of migraineurs who were in early headache remission phase, and in 28 normal controls. Results: Compared with normal controls, the levels of CGRP and SP were significantly decreased in migraineurs, the decrease was more significant in those who remained uncomfortable on head. Conclusion: Sensory nervous system may be involved in the development of migraine by a change in release of CGRP and SP.
