Abstract:The model of morphine witharawal rats was established by gradually increasing doses of morphine (from 5mg/kg to 50mg/kg, 5 days). The effect of intracerebroventracular injection of 5 HT 1A agonist urapidil on mean arterial blood pressure (mABP) and heart rate (HR) was studied in naloxone precipitated rats . The results of present study showed that intracerebroventracular injection of urapidil may inhibit the hypertention in morphine withdrawal rats in a dose dependent manner. Urapidil also inhibited the tachycardia in morphine withdrawal rats, but not in a dose dependent manner. Similar results were obtained by intracerebroventracular injection of 5 HT 1A agonist 8 OH DPAT.
