Abstract:Objective: To evaluate the clinical effect of the sequential five procedure method (SFPM) on cervical spondylosis by comparing it with traditional (non surgical) therapy. Methods: The SFPM consisted of (1) Injecting analgesic solution into pathologic tissues; (2) Acupotomy: Dividing the intervetebral foramen and cutting loose from constriction and adhension of nerve roots with acupotome, which was the main therapy among the five procedures, (3) Manipulative correction; (4) Physiotherapy and treatment with equipments; (5) Administration of medicine. Traditional (non surgical) therapy was the same as the SFPM except for acupotomy. Result: The effective rate and curative rate were 96.8% and 76.0%, respectively in SFPM group (n=125) and 84.6%, 28.4% in traditional group (n=182). Significant difference was found between the two groups. Conclution: The curative effect of the SFPM was significantly higher than that of traditional therapy, since the SFPM can substantially correct the pathological changes of cervical spondylosis.
