Abstract:In the present study, we treated trigeminal neuralgia with Han's acupoint nerve stimulator (HANS). Stimulation was delivered to acupoints through skin electrodes. The frequency used were 2/100 Hz dense-and-disperse square wave. The main acupoint used was "Hegu" for all the cases, with "Yangbai" and "Xiaguan" for the first branch; "Sibai","Jiache", and an extra point "Luozhen" for the second branch; "Yiming" and "Tinghui" for the third branch. Result: seven out of 28 cases, (25%) were cured, fourteen of the patients (50%) partly effective, and seven (25%) were without effect. Our result subests that transcutaneous electric acupoint stimulation may be used safely and effectively as a routine method in treating trigeminal neuralgia.
