Abstract:Fifty cases of severe pregnancy hypertension potients were undergone Caesarian section under epidural anesthesia, and the post-operative course was observed. Continuous epidural low-dose morphine was administered in 14 cases, and no analgesic treatment was given in the rest of pahents, which was served as control. Three cases of eclampsy and 4 cases of acute left heart failure were oberved in the control group. No such cases occured in the epidural morphine group, nor was there any painful experience in the latter group, with blood pressure remained stable. The results suggest that morphine analgesia helped to prevent the occurance of post-operative complication including eclampsia and heart failre.
