Abstract:A double blind study of 46 cases with migraine treated with sumatriptan(22 cases)and placebo(2 4 cases)was reported. The two groups were not significantly different in sex,age,weight and height.The data indicated that the total improvement rate of sumatriptan group was 82%(18/22)and the significant improvement rate was 50%(11/22). Corresponding values of the placebo group were 50%(12/24)and 37. 5%(9/ 24)respectively.Total improvement rate in sumatriptan group was significantly higher than in the placebo group(P<0.02).Slight side effects were found only in 4 cases out of the 22 cases in the sumatriptan group.
